Initiatives and efforts for smoke-free campaign is once again recognized thru the Red Orchid Awards. Red Orchid Awards was conceptualized to promote a tobacco-free work environment by discouraging tobacco use. This year, the Bureau of Quarantine – Cebu was nominated and has been conferred a Pink Orchid Award for its collective efforts in transforming the BoQ Station a tobacco-free environment.

BoQ Cebu garnered a total score that qualifies them to the Pink Orchid Award based on the Department of Health’s set criteria for implementing a 100% tobacco-free environment and following the World Health Organization’s “MPOWER” Framework which stands for:

  Monitor tobacco use and prevention policies;
 
            Protect people from tobacco smoke;
 
            Offer help to quit tobacco use;
 
            Warn against the dangers of tobacco;
 
            Enforce bans on tobacco advertising; and
 
            Raise taxes on tobacco.

BoQ Cebu received the distinction last 22nd November 2017 at The Oriental Leyte, Palo, Leyte. Kudos to the men and women of BoQ Cebu!
